To play, use the control panel to operate the reactor. First, you must switch on the coolant pumps. Once the coolant has reached 290°C you will be able to move to step 2.
Tip: You can explore the reactor at any time during the game by clicking on the 2D diagram and selecting individual components.
To start generating heat, lift the control rods slightly; just 10% or less to begin with. For safety, if the reactor gets too hot, it will automatically shut down so try to keep the dials in the green zone.
Tip: Click ‘Control Rods’ on the 2D diagram to zoom in and see the percentage they are raised.
Increase the steam output from the steam generators to turn the turbines and produce electricity. The power demand will change at different times of day; match your output to the power demand by adjusting the control rods and steam output.
Tip: Follow your progress on the Demand vs Output graph on the control panel.
